→ GIRL, WHO?
Jasmine Snow comes from a long line of folks you don’t hear about. Existing at the confluence of a poor lineage in the rural Midwest entwined with one out of the inner-city Chicago, she was born tired of seeing the people she loves and lives with being left out of the narrative because of where they live or what they look like.
This is when she learned that storytelling is how we survive. It’s how we can pass on ourselves and our secrets for survival to the ones coming after us when we get left behind by traditional institutions. And Jasmine believes in the practice of living well.
→ GIRL, WHAT?
Born nosy, Jasmine is a Midwest-based multimedia storyteller finishing up a master’s degree in Journalism at Michigan State University (2026). She lives for telling stories with and for the communities she loves and lives alongside—whether that be data-driven accountability reporting, or representation-rich features centered in joy.
A classically trained writer in print/digital news writing, editing, and fact-checking, she’s spent the last two years with a camera in her hand—and she’s loved every minute. She sees every moment (from the under-exposed, slow-shutter throwaways to the Upper Midwest Emmy®Student Production Award she received in 2024) as invaluable learning opportunities schooling her in how to show up better next time. Especially considering the high value the LIFT Project has found in visual communicators.
She is most passionate about reporting with and for underrepresented and marginalized groups, including BIPOC, women and femmes, LGBTQ+ communities, and people with disabilities. She is especially passionate about covering topics like public health and social movements/activism.
→ GIRL, WHERE?
Jasmine would love to embrace the myth that she simply appeared on the journalism scene out of the mists. But actually, she got her start reporting in high school back in South Dakota.
